Announcement of a Ceasefire in Ukraine

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has declared a “ceasefire” in connection with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

This “ceasefire” will be effective from 00:00 on May 8 until 00:00 on May 11, as reported by the Russian state news agency TASS.

Putin stated that the Ukrainian side “should also follow this example”.

He added that “if the ceasefire is violated by Ukraine, Russian forces will respond appropriately and effectively”.
