Restoration of Power Supply in Kherson
Energy professionals from Odessa have played a crucial role in restoring energy systems in the Kherson region following devastating attacks that occurred in February. Thanks to their efforts, electricity has been restored for nearly 2000 residents of Kherson.
This information was announced on the official page of DTEK Odessa Electric Networks.
It is reported that 26 workers were engaged in restoring the damaged electrical infrastructure of Kherson due to military shelling. The teams arrived in the city in mid-March, operating on a rotational basis.
“The frontline was located just 3 to 10 kilometers away from the repair site. Energy workers had to operate in bulletproof vests and helmets for safety reasons and with extreme urgency, as the enemy continued to shell Kherson from the left bank of the Dnipro River,” the report states.
The specialists successfully energized three high-voltage lines and a substation to provide power primarily to water supply facilities, according to DTEK.
On April 4, 2025, Russian forces struck the Kherson CHPP with an FPV drone.
On the morning of April 1, 2025, another energy facility in Kherson was damaged. As a result of the Russian attack, 45,000 subscribers were left without electricity.
On March 27, Russian troops launched strikes against energy infrastructure in Kherson and Poltava, violating ceasefire agreements. Specifically, the Kremlin had previously agreed to halt attacks on energy facilities, but these strikes indicate a breach of those agreements.
President Zelensky stated that Ukraine will respond to such violations and called on the international community to react to Russia's actions.
