Escalation on the Southern Front: New Challenges Ahead

07 October 2025

The situation on the southern front is escalating. Defense forces spokesman Vladislav Voloshin reported an increase in attacks by Russian troops, especially using kamikaze drones and artillery.

“The situation is complex, and the number of attacks is rising. Yesterday, the enemy intensified drone strikes and artillery shelling, affecting not only our positions but also settlements near the front line,” Voloshin stated.

He also emphasized that the number of combat encounters in the south has decreased compared to other directions, with 13 combat engagements recorded.

“Of these, eight took place in the Huliaipole direction, where the enemy has been unsuccessfully trying to take control of Poltavka. Four other encounters occurred in the Orikhiv direction, near the settlements of Kamianske and Stepove,” he added.

Additionally, Voloshin informed that in the Orikhiv area, the occupiers again used motorcycles in their assault but failed to succeed and retreated.

On October 6, a total of 193 combat encounters were recorded, with Ukrainian forces repelling 59 enemy attacks in the Pokrovsk direction.
