1,200 Fallen Returned to Ukraine Under Istanbul Agreements
Recent repatriation efforts have successfully returned the remains of 1200 deceased individuals to Ukraine.
According to Russian sources, these remains belong to Ukrainian citizens, particularly military personnel. The repatriation was conducted based on agreements made in Istanbul.
The return of the bodies was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Coordination Headquarters for POW Affairs, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, and other security and defense structures in Ukraine.
Law enforcement agencies, along with experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will carry out all necessary procedures for the identification of the repatriated remains.
We express our gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance.
Special thanks to the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for their role in transporting the repatriated individuals to designated specialized facilities and organizing the transfer of the deceased to law enforcement authorities for forensic examination.
