Celebrating 20 Years of Success: Specialized Climbing School in Odessa

On March 30, 2025, the Specialized Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve for Climbing in Odessa celebrated its 20th anniversary.

This school is the first and only specialized climbing school in Ukraine. Over its two decades of existence, through the efforts of coaches and athletes, the school achieved recognition and became a specialized Olympic reserve sports school.

During its operation, the school has trained around 1000 athletes, including multiple champions and medalists of world and European championships. Among its successful alumni are three international class sports masters (Anastasia Savitsko, Konstantin Pavlenko, Grigory Ilchishin) and 21 national masters of sports.

The celebration was attended by distinguished guests, including Igor Koval, the secretary of the Odessa City Council, honorary citizen of Odessa Valentin Simonenko, and representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

The school's director, Lyubov Zimova, was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports for her contribution to the development of sports.

Before the festivities began, participants were able to view displays showcasing the school's journey over the past 20 years.

Sport climbing is an Olympic sport that evolved from traditional climbing and includes three main disciplines: difficulty climbing, speed climbing, and bouldering.
