Adaptive Sports for Veterans: New Opportunities Ahead
Odesa is actively advancing adaptive sports programs within the rehabilitation framework for veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In collaboration with public and sports organizations that support individuals with disabilities, various sports such as wheelchair basketball, table tennis, billiards, golf, swimming, diving, and boxing are being integrated into the rehabilitation program.
Engagement in sports and integration into the athletic community assist veterans in adapting to societal life.
Specifically, Ukrainian Armed Forces veterans Dmytro Danilov, Serhiy Kotsyuba, and Valerii Chuhuev are representing the national billiards team for athletes with disabilities at the WPA Heyball Parasport World Championship - 2024 in Los Angeles.
The preparation and participation of Odesa athletes are made possible through the support of the rehabilitation department of the Odesa City Council's Health Department.
