Yarmolenko comments on his absence from the national team call-up

14 May 2025

Dynamo defender Andriy Yarmolenko reacted to the decision of the Ukraine national team head coach Serhiy Rebrov not to include him in the squad for the upcoming Nations League matches.

He discussed this in a podcast hosted by Denys Boyko.

"Honestly, I felt a bit disappointed, but these things happen in football. I understood that if I'm not called up, it means there are other players who can deliver better results."

"After 15 years of being consistently called up to the national team, it’s natural to feel a bit sad when it happens for the first time. But what can you do? This is football; I need to keep working, and maybe next time I will get the call again."

In March, Yarmolenko returned to the national team and came on as a substitute in the Nations League playoff match against Belgium (0:3).

This season, the 35-year-old player has scored 10 goals and provided 1 assist in 30 matches for Dynamo. Recently, he celebrated his 113th goal in the UPL, matching Serhiy Rebrov's record.

The player also spoke about the potential extension of his contract with the Kyiv club.
