New Educational Initiative in Odesa

The new educational program will begin in the upcoming academic year. The mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, and the rector of ONU, Viacheslav Truba, signed a memorandum of cooperation initiated by the Department of Education. The main goal is to engage young people in the study of natural sciences and support promising students.

According to the memorandum, schools will be able to enter individual contracts with the university to invite instructors in physics and other natural disciplines. The collaboration format includes both pre-profile training (grades 7-9) and profile education (grades 10-11). There are also plans to organize research activities with students who demonstrate abilities in relevant fields.

The city council noted that the Institute of Physics has the necessary resources—qualified specialists and equipped laboratories—to provide quality education. Meanwhile, schools lack qualified teachers in natural sciences, especially physicists, making this project a significant step towards addressing staffing issues in educational institutions.
