Engaging with a Drug Crime Expert: A Learning Experience for Students

The event featured  the Deputy Head of the Drug Crime Unit of the National Police of Ukraine in the Odesa region, Dmytro Chekmarov.

Third-year students from the Institute of Law and Security had a unique opportunity to acquire valuable knowledge from a police expert on drug crime, who discussed the importance of cooperation between investigators and operational units, as well as shared his practical experiences in combating drug-related offenses.

«The fight against drug crime is a complex and multifaceted process that requires coordinated efforts from all police units. It is essential not only to apprehend drug traffickers but also to detect and dismantle drug labs, as well as trace the entire supply chain of drugs to dependent individuals,» emphasized Dmytro Chekmarov.

During the session, students learned about the specifics of conducting covert investigative activities and the methods and forms of operational search activities in this area.

Students showed particular interest in the demonstration of photo and video materials from sites where crimes related to illegal drug trafficking were detected and halted.
