11 November 2024

The educational system in Ukraine is undergoing significant transformations to meet modern challenges and societal needs. Developing practical skills in students has become increasingly important for helping them protect themselves, their families, and their country.

This is why the teaching of the subject «Defense of Ukraine» is currently being reformed.

Initiated by the Odessa City Council and the Department of Education and Science, a meeting was held at Odessa Lyceum No. 1 named after A.P. Bistrina to discuss the establishment of new centers for teaching «Defense of Ukraine» in public secondary education institutions.

The meeting was attended by school directors, teachers of the «Defense of Ukraine» subject, representatives of veteran organizations, city council deputies, and members of the Coordination Council for National and Patriotic Education.

During the discussions, they addressed the creation and functioning of educational centers, the optimal use of available resources, and the enhancement of organizational efforts for the «Defense of Ukraine» subject in light of current challenges.

Participants were introduced to recommendations for setting up these centers, developed by the project office for «Updating the Program of the «Defense of Ukraine» subject, supported by the «Partnership for a Strong Ukraine» Fund, along with an algorithm for establishing centers for teaching the «Defense of Ukraine» subject.
