Creating an Accessible Educational Environment in Ukraine

Modern society is actively striving to establish an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of physical or mental differences, can realize their potential. Accessibility in education is a crucial aspect of this process.

For individuals with special educational needs, accessibility is not just important; it is essential for obtaining quality education. It entails creating conditions where people with disabilities can freely access knowledge.

As part of the City Target Program "Equality" for 2023-2025, which will be renamed to "Barrier-Free Odessa," and the Action Plan for 2023-2024, work continues on:

- installing ramps;

- renovating restrooms in educational institutions in Odessa to meet the needs of people with disabilities;

- providing Wi-Fi access in preschool and general secondary education institutions;

- supplying high-speed internet and computer equipment for distance learning for vulnerable groups of students and teachers;

- training medical and educational staff to provide first aid to students with special educational needs;

- organizing awareness-raising activities for teachers and parents to foster a positive climate in educational institutions for children with special needs.
