In Memory of Igor Poklad: A Maestro of Ukrainian Music

Igor Poklad passed away at the age of 84.

This sad news was shared by his wife, Svitlana Poklad, on her Facebook page.

"This is it... I loved, love, and will always love him... Please pray for Igor Dmytrovych... For his immortal soul..." - she wrote.

Igor Poklad was not just a Ukrainian composer and opera master; he was also a Hero of Ukraine, a recipient of the Shevchenko Prize, an Honored Artist of Ukraine, a People's Artist of the USSR, and a People's Artist of Ukraine, as well as a member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine.

His well-known works include songs such as "Beloved," "Two Wings," "Magical Violin," "Wild Geese," and many others.

In August 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Igor Poklad with the honor of "National Legend of Ukraine."
