Culinary Heritage of Krynychne: A Recipe Book Project

09 June 2025

In the village of Krynychne, located in the Bolhrad district, a unique recipe book is being developed where local homemakers share their culinary secrets. The collection already includes 60 dishes passed down through generations.

The organizers of the project, “Center for Education and Talent Development” of Krynychne village, have shared insights into the material collection process for this culinary compilation.

The project is coordinated by Sofia Kurteva, who gathers information, communicates with homemakers, and edits the recipes.

To date, around 60 dishes from 20 residents of the village have been processed. The book will be divided into several thematic sections: traditional festive dishes, seasonal recipes, ritual dishes (St. George's Day, Easter, etc.), homemade preparations, baking, and sweets.

Soon, project participants will begin photographing the cooking process. Simultaneously, text editing, clarification of names, ingredients, and technologies is ongoing. The Center has announced plans to involve new homemakers and expand the recipe selection.
