Advancements in Land De-mining in Ukraine
In Ukraine, there have been 426 applications from citizens for the de-mining of agricultural lands under the state compensation program, with over 1,500 hectares cleared in 2025.
This was reported by Volodymyr Baida, the director of the Humanitarian Demining Center (HDC), during a television broadcast, as conveyed by Ukrinform.
"Currently, we are seeing significant progress in the program. To date, we have received 426 applications covering more than 14,000 hectares of agricultural land (previously, only 3,000 hectares were cleared over three years).
We have already conducted 65 auctions, with contracts signed totaling 835 million UAH. Regarding the cleared (from mines – ed.) areas, more than 1,500 hectares have been released this year," he explained.
Baida mentioned that 3 billion UAH were allocated for the program in 2025.
"Farmers are much more active this year. Last year, only eight out of 85 operators participated in the auctions, while now there are about 20," Baida noted.
He clarified that out of 235 applications this year, 110 were rejected due to the lack of non-technical land surveys.
