New Partnership: Support for Ukraine's Energy Sector
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Odile Renaud-Basso, have signed an agreement to bolster the energy sector of Ukraine.
As reported by "European Truth", Shmyhal announced this on his Facebook page.
The agreement includes the mobilization of 270 million euros under state guarantees, alongside a grant of 140 million euros from the Norwegian government.
Shmyhal explained that this will enable Naftogaz of Ukraine to import significant volumes of natural gas in preparation for the upcoming heating season.
He highlighted that since the onset of the full-scale war with Russia, the EBRD has provided over 6 billion euros to Ukraine in the form of loans, grants, and guarantees.
It was previously reported that by 2025, the EBRD plans to invest at least 1.5 billion euros to support Ukraine's economy and businesses during wartime.
Specifically, 1 billion euros is earmarked for the energy sector support.
