24 April 2025

With the assistance of the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, a significant meeting took place at the Kyiv office of the Ministry of Community Development, where Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov and his deputy Anna Pozdnyakova met with representatives of the South Korean company POSCO E&C.

This corporation has extensive experience in building waste incineration plants worldwide. Anna Pozdnyakova emphasized the importance of the plant in Warsaw, which adheres to European regulations. Odessa is exploring similar ecological solutions.

The discussions with POSCO E&C marked a significant step toward the potential construction of a waste incineration plant in Odessa.

Vice President Kim Yong Hyun noted that the company has already implemented projects in Ukraine, particularly in the Mykolaiv region, and looks forward to further collaboration.

The project has received approval from the relevant ministry and has been included in the city's heating supply scheme. The parties agreed to work on the organizational aspects necessary for the project's implementation.

Gennady Trukhanov highlighted that the project is crucial for the city's ecology and energy supply, and he hopes that it can commence as soon as possible.
