New Greenhouse Complex in Vynogradivka
A farmer from the village of Vynogradivka, Yuriy Syurma, has received approval to establish a new greenhouse complex within the Bolhrad community. The Bolhrad City Council has supported his initiative, and after an open auction, Yuriy will lease eight hectares of land to implement his agricultural project.
With six years of experience, Yuriy specializes in growing organic vegetables without chemical fertilizers. Last year, he successfully cultivated three hectares and decided to expand his operations.
“I wanted to scale up, so I approached the city council. They supported the idea, designated a plot, and held an auction, which I won,” said Yuriy Syurma.
The entrepreneur plans to grow zucchinis, strawberries, watermelons, corn, and tomatoes. All products will be organic, which, according to the farmer, is a relevant challenge in a region where traditional agricultural chemicals are prevalent.
“We want to bring back the true taste of vegetables and trust in food. People should know: this is not 'water with Styrofoam,' but a natural product grown with care,” the farmer emphasized.
The first harvest from the new plot is expected after the preparatory works are completed, focusing on setting up irrigation and soil preparation. Yuriy also expressed gratitude to Mayor Serhiy Dymitriyev for assistance with organizational matters, particularly regarding water supply.
In the long term, the project is expected to create 20–30 permanent jobs for local residents.
“Don’t hesitate to approach authorities with your ideas. If one door doesn’t open — another will surely be found,” Yuriy advises those dreaming of starting their own business.
The Bolhrad City Council emphasizes that the development of local entrepreneurship and support for proactive residents is one of their priorities.
