Decrease in Electricity Consumption in Ukraine
As of the morning of April 21, electricity consumption in Ukraine has decreased by 12.6% compared to the previous working day - April 18.
According to a Facebook post by NEC “Ukrenergo,” electricity consumption continues to decline, as reported by Ukrinform.
“Electricity consumption has fallen. Today, April 21, as of 9:30, the level was 12.6% lower than the previous working day - Friday. The reason is a non-working day set by some employers,” - the agency quotes the company's statement.
Furthermore, sunny and warm weather across Ukraine leads to reduced consumption of electricity from the general grid.
Ukrenergo advises shifting active energy consumption to the hours when solar power plants operate most efficiently and to use high-power devices from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
It is worth noting that a week ago, on April 15, the heating season for 2024/2025 officially ended in Ukraine.
Heat supply has ceased in all regions; however, several social institutions - hospitals, kindergartens, and schools - will continue to receive heating under certain temperature conditions.
How many times did Russia attack Ukraine's energy system during the heating season?
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the third heating season has successfully concluded amid the full-scale war, despite numerous Russian attacks on the country's energy system.
According to him, during the 2024/2025 heating season, Russia conducted 9 massive and dozens of smaller attacks on the Ukrainian energy system.
“And despite all this, we stood firm. In the homes of millions of Ukrainians, in schools and hospitals, there was light and heat. Our enterprises also operated without significant restrictions,” - the Prime Minister said.
