Criminal Sentenced for Robbery in Odessa
Recently in the center of Odessa, a criminal stole a phone from an elderly man while pretending to be a helpful passerby. For this crime, he was sentenced to seven years in prison.
The incident occurred in February this year. A man who arrived from Berezivka got lost in the city. The perpetrator, under the guise of assistance, offered to guide the elderly gentleman, then swiftly snatched the mobile phone from his pocket.
The police quickly apprehended the criminal in a nearby district and returned the phone to its rightful owner.
The offender, who had previous convictions, was placed under preventive detention. During the investigation, sufficient evidence was gathered to charge him under Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning the open theft of someone else's property.
The court, upon reviewing the case, found him guilty and imposed a seven-year prison sentence.
