Gruesome Murder in the Balta Region
Last October, a mutilated body was discovered in a forest near one of the settlements in the Balta community. The investigation revealed that two men, aged 62 and 29, were involved, having been drinking together.
This was reported by the police of the Odessa region.
During the gathering, an argument broke out, leading to a fight where the younger man restrained the homeowner, while the older man fatally stabbed him in the chest with a knife he carried. The victim died instantly from this blow.
To cover up the crime and complicate the identification of the deceased, the perpetrators transported the body to the woods, where they mutilated it, including decapitating it, and then set it on fire. The younger suspect was arrested at home.
During the pre-trial investigation, the court chose to place him in custody without the possibility of bail.
The older man fled immediately after the crime and is currently on the run. Materials regarding his case have been allocated to a separate proceeding, and he has been declared wanted.
The vehicle used by the suspects, communication devices, and other items relevant to the case were seized and included as evidence after expert examinations.
The pre-trial investigation regarding the 29-year-old suspect, who has a previous conviction for property crimes, has been completed.
He is charged with murder committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy. The case has been forwarded to court.
The maximum penalty for this crime is life imprisonment.
