New Safety Center Opens in Odesa Region
A newly upgraded Citizen Safety Center has been launched in the Odesa region with the support of the European Investment Bank.
The new facility in the town of Avanhard will enable quicker responses to emergencies for over 36,000 residents of the town and surrounding communities.
This building, designed with wartime conditions in mind, features modern training complexes, shelters for staff and citizens during air alerts, and will serve as a hub for providing essential humanitarian aid to internally displaced persons.
This project is part of the «Emergency Credit Program for the Recovery of Ukraine», a joint initiative by the EU and the European Investment Bank.
The program is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Restoration, the Ministry of Finance, the Odesa Regional State Administration, and the Avanhard Village Council, with technical support from UNDP in Ukraine.
In Odesa region alone, 28 projects worth a total of €48.7 million have been realized or are underway under EIB projects, aimed at improving the quality of life for residents and internally displaced persons.
These include the reconstruction of:
- 15 educational institutions
- 7 healthcare facilities
- 3 public buildings
- 2 wastewater treatment plants
- 1 heating supply facility
The new Safety Center in Avanhard represents another significant step towards strengthening the resilience of Odesa communities. With the help of international partners, the region is gaining the modern infrastructure needed to address current challenges.
We appreciate the collaboration for the recovery and modernization of the region.
