Attack on Woman in Odesa: Crime Details
On Heroes of Defense Street in Odesa, a man attacked a woman in the entrance of a residential building, brandishing a knife and stealing her gold chain before fleeing the scene. The police were able to identify and apprehend the assailant within a few hours.
The incident took place on the morning of April 15, when a 63-year-old woman was returning home. An unknown man followed her into the entrance, cornered her, and took her jewelry while threatening her with a knife.
Law enforcement arrived promptly at the scene, involving canine units, and within less than a day, they identified the attacker. He was found to be a 33-year-old man with a criminal record and no permanent residence. It turned out that he exchanged the stolen chain for drugs. Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the stolen jewelry.
"The suspect has been detained in accordance with the law and placed in a temporary detention facility. He has already been charged under part 4 of article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery committed in a state of martial law. The suspect faces up to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odesa" - the police statement reads.
