Tragic Shooting: Young Man Kills Neighbor's Dog
A tragic incident occurred in the Bereziv community where a young man shot and killed his friend's dog using an air rifle. The perpetrator faces up to three years in prison.
The event took place in February when a local resident heard whimpering and reported to the police, discovering the dog’s lifeless body in the neighbor's yard.
Upon investigation, the police learned that a 25-year-old man had been visiting friends and, during their conversation, found out that their pet was allegedly harming chickens. In a fit of anger, he decided to punish the dog and fired at it, hitting it in the eye.
A veterinary examination confirmed that the dog died from brain swelling caused by the gunshot wound.
The police quickly located the suspect and seized the weapon, identified as a 4.5 mm caliber air rifle.
The individual was charged with animal cruelty leading to the dog’s death. Under the relevant section of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he could face up to three years of imprisonment.
The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the local prosecutor's office.
