Young Man Arrested in Odesa for Drug Distribution
A 23-year-old man has been charged by law enforcement.
Officers from the special police battalion of the National Police of Ukraine in Odesa region apprehended the individual in the Khadjibey district while he was attempting to place 'drops.' The investigative team that arrived at the scene confiscated a packet containing a highly dangerous psychotropic substance, confirmed by an express test. Furthermore, from the spots where the young man managed to hide the drugs, police seized an additional eight wraps with similar contents. All substances have been sent for examination. Additionally, a mobile phone belonging to the suspect, containing information pertinent to the investigation, has been included in the case materials.
During the preliminary investigation, it was determined that the resident of Odesa received the illicit goods from an unidentified individual he met online and was distributing them through hidden locations.
“Based on sufficient evidence, we have notified the suspect of charges under Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, specifically for the illegal acquisition and storage with the intent to sell highly dangerous psychotropic substances. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years with property confiscation,” said investigator Serhiy Zholonko.
The court has selected house arrest as a preventive measure for the suspect. The channel through which the banned substances reached the young man is under investigation.
The investigation is ongoing under the procedural guidance of the Malinovsky District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Odesa.
