Arrested for Bribery in Healthcare

In the Odesa region, law enforcement officials apprehended the deputy head of a medical advisory commission at a local hospital for accepting a bribe of $6,000. The suspect has been charged, facing imprisonment, disqualification from specific positions, and asset confiscation.

The press service of the Odesa Regional Police stated that the deputy head, in collusion with unidentified officials from the Military Medical Clinical Center, attempted to assist a soldier in being discharged from service due to health issues. He valued his services at $6,000, promising to provide medical documentation that would justify the soldier's discharge from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"During operations to halt the suspect's criminal activities, police documented his receipt of illicit gains in two installments and the transfer of promised medical documents, leading to his arrest."

Investigators charged the offender under part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for obtaining unlawful benefits by a public official. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years, along with disqualification from holding certain positions.

The court has decided to impose a preventive measure of custody for the suspect, allowing bail set at 908,400 UAH. Authorities are identifying individuals involved in the scheme."
