Man Arrested in Odessa for Distribution of Pornography and Child Abuse

Under the supervision of the Malinovsky District Prosecutor's Office in Odessa, a 38-year-old man has been charged with distributing pornography, harassment, and sexual violence against a minor (Part 2 of Article 301, Part 3 of Article 156-1, and Parts 4, 6 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect encountered the profile of a 10-year-old girl on the messaging app «Telegram». Aware of her age, he posed as a 12-year-old boy to gain her trust and initiate communication.

During their exchanges, he sent her pornographic images and videos, and while psychologically manipulating her, he attempted to convince her to meet in person to conceal their communication from her parents.

After gaining the girl's consent, the perpetrator arranged three meetings in remote, deserted locations. Taking advantage of her age-related vulnerabilities, which limited her ability to resist both physically and mentally, he repeatedly committed acts of sexual violence against her.

It has also been established that a similar indictment is already under consideration in the Uman District Court of Cherkasy Oblast.

Currently, at the request of the prosecution, the suspect has been placed in custody as a preventive measure.

The preliminary investigation is being conducted by detectives of the 1st Police Department of the 1st Police Investigation Unit of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odessa Oblast.
