Legal Proceedings Against Organized Crime in Odesa Region

The Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office has submitted an indictment to the court against three individuals involved in an organized criminal group accused of sabotage - arson at railway facilities during martial law (Part 3 Art. 28 Part 2 Art. 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation revealed that the accused received a commission via messenger from an agent of the Russian special services to carry out sabotage acts for monetary rewards at Odesa railway facilities.

In August 2024, using a pre-prepared incendiary mixture, they set fire to eight relay cabinets on railway sections and stations in the Odesa region.

The arsonists operated according to the «standard scheme» of the Russian special services. They first scouted potential targets, obtained approvals, and then executed the arsons, recording them on video. For each completed «task», they received payments, which were distributed among the group members.

All accused are currently in custody.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support were conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
