Commemoration Ceremony for Victims of Repression in Odesa

On November 1st, Poland celebrates All Saints' Day, when cemeteries are illuminated by thousands of candles.

A ceremony was also held in Odesa, featuring the lighting of candles and laying of flowers at the 6th km of the Ovidiopol Road.

This event was dedicated to honoring the memory of victims of mass political repressions in the 1930s, during which thousands of lives were lost, including many Poles.

The ceremony was attended by Odesa's Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Odesa Jacek Goździewski, along with representatives of the diaspora and Polish civic organizations.

The Mayor informed the newly appointed consul about the history of this tragic site and the efforts made to honor the memory of repression victims prior to the full-scale invasion.

During the dialogue, it was noted that Poland is aware of this site and respects the attitude towards memory shown by the people of Odesa.

Mr. Goździewski emphasized that support and assistance for the project will be provided by the consulate, the diaspora, and Poland after Ukraine's victory.
