New Humanitarian Response Strategy in Odesa

07 November 2024

A new approach has been established in Odesa for interacting with international humanitarian organizations, enabling quicker responses to the consequences of enemy attacks. Acting Mayor Oleksandr Filatov shared this information during a coordination meeting organized by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The meeting included representatives from various UN agencies and international NGOs operating in the region. Among the attendees were the mayor's advisor on humanitarian issues Veronika Etnarovych, the director of the Department of Labor and Social Policy Olena Kytainska, and the director of the Department of Health Levon Nikoghosyan.

“Currently, in the Khadyzhbiiv district of the city, municipal workers are addressing the aftermath of the night attack. Alongside them, employees of international humanitarian organizations and charitable foundations are assisting the local authorities, utility workers, and especially those affected by the attack. We appreciate this vital collaboration,” emphasized Oleksandr Filatov.

Oleksandr Filatov also presented the current needs and priorities of Odesa for the year 2025.

Furthermore, the parties discussed the issue of aid from international partners for the coming year.
