Revamp of Heroes' Square in Odessa
Starting August 9, 2024, renovation work has commenced at Heroes' Square in Odessa.
According to Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, to ensure the safe passage of new modern trams arriving in Odessa, repairs must be conducted on certain sections of the old tracks.
The work is being carried out according to schedule, in phases, and includes road surface repairs, tram track renovations, lighting improvements, and landscaping.
Currently, the tram tracks have been completely replaced in both directions towards the city center and Lustdorf. The road surface has been leveled with the tram rails, facilitating smoother transit and increasing traffic capacity. Road markings will be applied in the coming days.
Additionally, the external lighting system has been upgraded with energy-efficient fixtures, significantly enhancing nighttime safety and reducing electricity costs.
Landscaping of green areas is also ongoing.
The works are being conducted without halting traffic. Specialists from KP 'Odesmiskelektrotrans', KP 'Miskzelentrest', KP 'Odesmisksvitlo', and the Road Management Department are involved in the project.
