Revamping Winter Equipment in Odessa

25 October 2024

In the city of Odessa, there is an ongoing enhancement of technical resources for public parks. This year, the Municipal Roads Utility has acquired new PRONAR SPT40 salt spreaders.

These machines are designed for treating the city’s street network with winter reagents, requiring vehicles with a capacity of over 10 tons.

The PRONAR SPT40 salt spreaders feature a hopper capacity adjustment system, allowing for increased treatment volumes. Monitoring and control of operating parameters, as well as activating the brine solution, are conducted from the vehicle’s cab using a display panel.

These spreaders are powered by a two-cylinder air-cooled diesel engine and can be operated remotely.
Key components of the spreading system are made of stainless steel, ensuring durability in high corrosion environments.

The new salt spreaders are a significant improvement over the older equipment, allowing for adjustment of spreading density, changing spreading programs, and featuring a wider spreading area.

The utility currently has 61 units of equipment for winter maintenance, including these new additions.

Most of the equipment in use has been operational for over 10 years, despite the recommended service life being 5 years.

Specialists from the municipal utility maintain the technical condition of the equipment. Preparations are currently underway to set the equipment up for the winter season.
