New Salt Production Facility Set to Open in Odesa Region

26 November 2025

In early 2026, a new salt production facility will begin operations in the Odesa region, marking a significant development for the area. According to the press service of the National Park "Kulyalnyk," the LLC "Black Sea Salt Plant" has invested $2.8 million into this project, utilizing the "5-7-9%" program.

Construction started in 2024 and is now nearing completion. The facility is expected to commence operations in January 2026, with a production capacity of about 15,000 tons of salt per month.

Co-founder Vitaliy Rudenko explained that, with the help of specialists from "Artemsol" and the Turkish company SALT PLUS, they are creating the first large-scale salt production plant in Ukraine, employing innovative comprehensive technologies for purification, grinding, and drying of salt. This will significantly meet the salt needs of the Ukrainian market.

In addition to production, the facility will also participate in the restoration of the Kulyalnyk estuary. Rudenko emphasized that their role extends beyond salt production; they aim to help restore the ecological balance of the region by removing excess salt.

The National Park "Kulyalnyk" has noted that the salinity levels in the estuary have critically increased, posing a threat to its unique therapeutic muds. The park is currently designing strategies to reduce salinity without requiring budgetary funds.

To achieve this, they plan to use a method of basin sedimentation of excess salts, akin to techniques employed in the USA, Spain, and Turkey. This will help lower the salinity levels, which can exceed 300 parts per thousand during hot weather, to a more manageable 180-250 parts per thousand.
