Urban Greenery Update in Odesa

Since the beginning of 2025, the Odesa utility company «Miskzelentrest» has undertaken the removal and cleaning of 1522 hazardous and dry trees and branches, including those damaged by inclement weather.

The inventory of trees is conducted collaboratively by the Department of Urban Economy and the Department of Ecology and Recreational Zone Development. Based on the findings, «Miskzelentrest» carries out tree and branch removal.

Overall, the removal of hazardous trees is performed in response to citizen requests, due to weather conditions, or as part of city-targeted beautification programs.

Additionally, the workers are engaged in stump removal. Since the beginning of the year, 828 stumps have been removed, and young trees are being planted in their places.

Stump removal is a complex task. Until this year, the municipal workers lacked specialized equipment for stump removal, which significantly complicated and delayed the process. Currently, the work is being carried out with new machinery — the Rotor Speedy 80/100 stump grinder and the KATA KF1404 tractor with 140 horsepower, designed for timely and efficient stump removal.
With the new equipment, workers significantly reduce the time needed for physically demanding tasks through mechanization: previously, manual stump removal was scheduled for 12 hours, but now the entire process for a 70 cm diameter stump takes just 40 minutes.
