Snow Drift Protection Systems for Roads in Odesa Region

07 November 2025

In the open areas of the Odesa region, where roadways hold significant economic and logistical importance, a new system is being established to prevent snow drifts.
According to the Infrastructure Recovery and Development Service in Odesa, this initiative aims to avert snow accumulation on the roads.
The agency explained that snow protection is achieved through the installation of snow-isolating, snow-preventing, and snow-retaining structures of both permanent and temporary types.
Notably, snow-isolating structures are specialized protective galleries used for safeguarding mountainous roadways.
Snow-preventing fences are utilized in areas prone to intense snow transfer and strong winds that blow at a right angle to the road.
Additionally, the Recovery Service highlighted that an analytical monitoring center operates around the clock in the Odesa region to oversee road conditions and respond quickly.
For inquiries regarding the state of public roads of national significance, citizens can contact the 24/7 hotline: +38 067 400 60 80.
