Justice for the Victim: New Details in the Criminal Case in Odessa
The investigators have completed the preliminary investigation and submitted the indictment regarding the suspect to the court. He faces up to eight years in prison for causing serious bodily harm.

The incident occurred in September of last year in the Primorsky district of Odessa. Police established that a 67-year-old resident of Mykolaiv region, having missed his train, sought shelter in a high-rise building offering short-term rentals.
By mistakenly confusing the apartment number, the elderly man began knocking on the door of a 31-year-old local resident, trying to enter. When the homeowner opened the door, a dispute arose between them regarding why the stranger had entered a residential area where he did not belong.
The verbal conflict escalated into a physical altercation, during which the younger man assaulted the elderly visitor. The victim lost consciousness, and the perpetrator dragged him to a fence, striking him several more times before fleeing.
A bus station security guard notified the police about the injured man. Medical personnel hospitalized the victim with a traumatic brain injury, skull fracture, and multiple lacerations. According to the forensic examination, these injuries are classified as serious and life-threatening. The offender was located and apprehended by investigators the following morning.
“The offender was arrested under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in custody. After gathering sufficient evidence of his unlawful actions, we charged him under part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for intentionally causing serious bodily harm dangerous to life at the time of the act. The indictment has been submitted to the court. Under current legislation, the offender faces up to eight years in prison,” said investigator Valeria Bulyga. The investigation was carried out under the supervision of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office in Odessa.
