New Initiative for IDP Integration in Ukraine
A groundbreaking humanitarian initiative for internally displaced persons (IDPs) named "Shelter. Work" was launched in the capital of Ukraine, aimed at assisting individuals in finding employment and housing, allowing them to successfully integrate into new communities. This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
The "Shelter. Work" platform features job vacancies that include housing provided by employers; retraining and reskilling programs; and AI-powered job search tools that foster collaboration between the government and businesses.
"When a person has a place to live and the opportunity to work, they don't just survive; they become an integral part of the community, paying taxes, raising children, and contributing to local development. 'Shelter. Work' is a prime example of how to merge these two essential elements," said Minister of Social Policy Denis Ulyutin.
Galina Yancheko, a member of parliament and initiator of the "Shelter. Work" project, shared that the program began on the first day of the full-scale invasion, initially as a social media group through which over one million Ukrainians found housing.
"Initially, this project was solely a means for IDPs to find free accommodation. However, it has now evolved into an opportunity for people to restart their lives," she emphasized.
