Railway Accident: Man Loses Arm

The incident occurred yesterday, February 7, around 10 PM. The victim sustained a serious arm injury.

The investigative team from the local police department preliminarily established that a 53-year-old man living nearby was near the platform on the tracks and did not respond to the signals from the locomotive driver. The driver applied emergency brakes, but a collision with the man could not be avoided. The victim was hospitalized with an arm amputation.

Investigators from Police Department No. 2 of the Odessa District Police Department No. 1 have entered information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under part 2 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This pertains to violations of safety rules for railway transport that caused serious bodily harm. All circumstances of the event are being established. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office of Odessa.
