Increase in Electricity Consumption in Ukraine
The drop in temperatures and the delayed start of the heating season in Ukraine have led to a significant rise in electricity consumption nationwide – over 20% compared to the beginning of the month, stated the head of "Ukrenergo" Vitaliy Zaychenko.
"We hope that in the next ten days, heating will be restored across Ukraine, which will lead to a decrease in electricity consumption. Currently, many consumers are relying on electricity for heating – using air conditioners and heaters," he said during a telethon.
According to him, over the past seven years, households have become the largest consumers of electricity in Ukraine, so changing their habits could significantly help stabilize the situation – particularly by refraining from using high-power appliances during peak load times.
