Murder During a Gathering: Case Details

A conflict arose during a celebration, leading one participant to stab another.

This event took place in June of last year. Investigators found that a 39-year-old man had an argument with his 30-year-old acquaintance at his home after a gathering. During the conflict, the guest grabbed a knife and stabbed the host in the back.

Realizing his actions, the assailant called the police and an ambulance. Medics who arrived on the scene confirmed the victim's death. According to the forensic examination, the cause of death was acute blood loss due to the stab wound.

The perpetrator was arrested. The court later chose a preventive measure in the form of detention.

During the pre-trial investigation, supervised by the prosecutor's office, police gathered enough evidence and charged the suspect with intentional murder.

The indictment under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine was sent to court. During the trial, the defendant admitted his guilt, citing alcohol as a factor. The court, considering his sincere remorse, found him guilty and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
