13 October 2025
A cargo vessel named EILEEN, registered under the Cameroonian flag, sank in the Black Sea approximately 140 kilometers east of Varna. This was reported by Maritime.bg.
Yesterday, around 1 PM, the ship issued a distress signal regarding water entering its hull.
Following this, the captain ordered the ten-member crew, comprised of Ukrainian sailors, to abandon the ship. They successfully evacuated using two lifeboats. The nearest offshore vessel, MURAT ILHAN, rescued the sailors.
The EILEEN was built in 1993 and is currently managed by a company located in Odesa.
The last inspection, conducted in Izmail, revealed five violations. The ship was detained in Poti (Georgia) in July, in Astakos (Greece) in June, and in Tuzla (Turkey) in March.
