Elon Musk Unveils Grokipedia as a New Knowledge Platform

06 October 2025

Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual on the planet, has announced that the beta version of Grokipedia, a competitor to Wikipedia, will be launched in just two weeks. He shared this update on social media platform X.
“The early beta version 0.1 of Grokipedia will be released in two weeks,” Musk stated late Sunday, October 5.
According to NDTV, Grokipedia is being developed by xAI, one of Musk's companies and the creator of the AI chatbot Grok.
Musk made this announcement by retweeting a post from user @amXFreeze, who referred to Grokipedia as “the largest and most accurate source of knowledge for individuals and AI, with no usage restrictions.”
“Grok employs a vast amount of computation to logically deduce what is true, partially true, false, or what is missing,” the tweet from @amXFreeze explained.
Musk has frequently criticized Wikipedia’s funding and editorial practices.
His suggestion to leverage AI for “navigation to reach the truth” has sparked mixed reactions on platform X.
Some users expressed support for the new competitor to Wikipedia, while others warned that Grok's training data could lead to new biases.
As a reminder, in July, Musk's company xAI introduced a new AI model, Grok 4, and announced a new monthly subscription for the AI priced at $300.
