Aftermath of Severe Weather in Odesa: Rescue Operations Completed
In Odesa, rescuers have completed the search operations following the severe weather. 10 individuals lost their lives, while over 380 residents were saved. This was reported by Oleksiy Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for recovery and community development, on Telegram.
"The rescue operations have been successfully completed. Unfortunately, 10 people have died, but we managed to save more than 380 residents," Kuleba noted.
He added that emergency recovery work is ongoing. Over 60 locations have had water pumped out and infrastructure prepared for further restoration. Approximately 30 sites are still in operation. The most significant water accumulation occurred in underground parking lots, where over 15,000 cubic meters have already been pumped out.
Additionally, 40 out of 42 flooded shelters have been cleared.
According to Kuleba, commissions will begin assessing housing for future compensation, as well as investigating the causes of the tragedy.
A "hotline" for citizens has been established at the unified contact center 15-35. An additional line 15-01 has been added. Over 500 calls have been received on the "hotlines" yesterday and today.
Due to the storm and recent Russian shelling, 46,000 subscribers are currently without electricity in Odesa. Energy workers and rescuers continue to work under challenging conditions to restore power as quickly as possible. Water and gas supply in the city and region is functioning normally.
161 resilience points are being prepared for opening, where people can charge devices and warm up.
