Revival of the Chimney at Northern-2 Boiler House in Odesa

07 February 2025

The significant restoration of the chimney at the «Northern-2» boiler house, which was damaged by severe weather in November 2023, has been completed.

This restoration was made possible through financial support from UNICEF. The chimney of the municipal boiler house «Odesa City Heating Supply» has been put into operation and is now providing heating for 120,000 residents, as well as educational and medical institutions in the area.

«This winter, UNICEF's priority was to provide warmth to families and children, and to ensure the functioning of essential services they rely on, including healthcare, electricity, water supply, sanitation, and educational institutions, especially in the areas most affected by the war,» said Munir Mamedzade, head of UNICEF Ukraine.

On behalf of the Odesa community, Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov expressed sincere gratitude to UNICEF for their consistent support and collaboration.

«This project is a vivid example of international cooperation and support that we feel in all areas, particularly in the recovery and development of critical infrastructure in our city. When we work together, we are ready for contemporary challenges and can ensure comfortable living conditions for our citizens,» the Mayor of Odesa emphasized.

The Mayor also mentioned that the restoration of the boiler house building is ongoing, but it does not affect the heating process for the residents of Odesa.
