New Opportunities for Social Assistance in Ukraine
Ukrainians can now apply for new social assistance through the «Diia» app.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, via Telegram.
She emphasized that it is important for the government to ensure quick access to assistance for every family without unnecessary bureaucracy.
«We are changing our approach: there is now a basic social assistance program that simplifies the process of obtaining support for families in difficult circumstances, including low-income families, single mothers, and children whose parents evade child support payments,» Svyrydenko noted.
Applications for assistance can be submitted through «Diia». «It’s very simple: a few steps in the app — and you receive a calculation of the monthly payment. If everything suits you — you submit the application. No need to waste time collecting paper documents,» she stressed.
Svyrydenko added that the amount of assistance is calculated individually. The sum is linked to the basic size that determines the minimum income per person in a family, which is currently 4,500 UAH.
This pilot project is set to last for two years, and the government is already working to make it permanent. «We have approved and submitted the relevant bill to parliament,» the Prime Minister stated, expressing gratitude to international partners for their support in making social services more accessible.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a bill that proposes to transform state social assistance for low-income families into basic social assistance starting January 1, 2026.
