16 September 2025

Odessa — a city renowned for its architectural diversity, featuring over 2000 cultural sites.

Many of these landmarks require modern upgrades to enhance accessibility for all citizens.

The mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, along with his advisor on barrier-free spaces, Oleksiy Morozov, held an important meeting with UNDP representative and architect Artem Moiseenko, an expert in contextual inclusion and architectural accessibility.

The city plans to apply for a competition aimed at creating barrier-free routes. The discussion highlighted tourist paths in the historic center of Odessa.

Topics included the establishment of accessible routes, installation of navigation elements, ramps, and handrails that would facilitate comfortable and safe navigation for individuals with diverse needs.

Participants also reviewed plans for ensuring complete architectural accessibility of the Odessa City Council building.
