Military Intelligence Day in Ukraine: Honoring Heroes
On September 7, Ukraine celebrates Military Intelligence Day. This holiday signifies the recognition of the importance of military intelligence in safeguarding the nation's interests. In times of aggression, the country requires reliable intelligence capable of providing timely and accurate information, as well as forecasts necessary for making significant national security decisions.
Military intelligence serves as the "eyes, ears, and brain" of the army, states the Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov.
According to Budanov, this holiday honors those who fight an incredibly important battle for the freedom and safety of our state.
"Military intelligence, - Budanov noted, - embodies courage, determination, logic, and a heart devoted to Ukraine".
He explained that the daily work of Ukrainian intelligence officers combines intellect, technology, analytics, and unwavering bravery.
Many comrades have paid the ultimate price for freedom, remaining loyal to their oath and homeland. Their names are immortalized on the Memorial of Remembrance, underlined Budanov. He expressed gratitude to every intelligence officer and all Ukrainians supporting the military in the fight for independence.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine congratulated intelligence officers on their professional holiday. The greeting was published on Syrskyi's Facebook page.
"Dear defenders! On September 7, we traditionally celebrate Military Intelligence Day. I sincerely congratulate you on your holiday! Thousands of Ukrainian intelligence officers work day and night on the front lines and in enemy territory, achieving vital results for Ukraine." - said Syrskyi.
He remarked that "the combat experience of Ukrainian intelligence officers is highly valued by our Western partners".
"There will come a time when we can recount all the remarkable operations of Ukrainian intelligence officers that thwarted the plans of the Russian invaders," - Syrskyi emphasized.
"On this day, we bow our heads in sorrow for the military intelligence officers who laid down their lives for Ukraine's independence. Eternal memory and glory to the fallen knights," - the general added.
At the same time, he expressed gratitude to the soldiers.
"Dear brothers and sisters in arms! Thank you for your significant contribution to our common cause," - noted Syrskyi.
Reminder: Military Intelligence Day in Ukraine was established by presidential decree on September 7, 2022. It is celebrated annually. On September 5, a memorial plaque was unveiled in Kyiv near the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People to honor the soldiers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
