Reflections of Independence: A New Perspective on Celebration
On the eve of Independence Day, an installation called "Mirror of Independence" was unveiled in Odessa near the Opera House. Everyone who approached it could look into their own eyes and ponder the question: "What role do I play in Victory?" The organizers explain that this serves as a reminder of the importance of each person's contribution to the future of the country.

The installation quickly gathered many locals and visitors. People stopped, gazed at their reflections, took photos, and shared their impressions. Participant and political scientist Mikhail Shabanov explained that this event resonates with the significance of national holidays and symbols.
"Our flag is a symbol of resilience. When you look in the mirror today, you see not only fatigue and sorrow but also hope. We have grown older, stronger, and within each of us is faith in the bright future of a united Ukraine", he noted.
The organizers aimed for the mirror to become a point of internal dialogue for everyone: from veterans to schoolchildren. They say that everyone can contribute to the shared victory. Alexey Zemyany, the head of the Odessa branch of the NGO "Defense of the State," shared that this idea formed the basis of the event.
"Everyone should make their contribution. If you can fight — fight, if you can donate — donate, if you can create jobs and pay taxes — do it. Our task is to remind people that their actions, even the smallest ones, are important for the country", he emphasized.
According to Zemyany, the installation is part of a nationwide initiative taking place in various regional centers. This event was the first of its kind in Odessa.
"I hope that next year we will gather again by this mirror — already in a free country, celebrating our victory", he added.
