Beach Inspections in Odesa: Ensuring Accessibility Standards

In Odesa, inspections of rented beach areas are underway to verify compliance with operational rules, sanitary conditions, and to ensure free access for all citizens. 

Following the mayor's directive, a working group has been established, consisting of representatives from the city government, the barrier-free council, and veterans. 

The main goal of the group is to assess the levels of accessibility, inclusivity, and free access to the beaches. 

On August 22, the group inspected the beaches in the Kyiv district. Members of the working group checked whether 30% of the rented area was designated for free use; if there were illegal barriers or structures blocking access; whether sanitary norms were met; if facilities for people with disabilities were provided; and whether free passage along the waterline and between beach plots was ensured. 

During the inspection, several violations were found, including the placement of sunbeds near the water obstructing passage, as well as illegal temporary structures on the promenades. Renters were issued orders for the immediate rectification of these issues. 

Based on the inspection results, comprehensive proposals will be prepared to improve beach accessibility for the upcoming holiday season.
