Empowering Youth: Safety and Creativity Initiatives

16 August 2025

In an effort to enhance communication with youth, law enforcement has shifted their approach to a more educational and entertaining format. They organized vibrant activities for teenagers, emphasizing the importance of safety rules in everyday life.
The youth visited the opera and drama theaters in Odessa, immersing themselves in the world of art and aesthetic beauty. They spent leisure time in a local park and amusement rides. Additionally, an art therapy session was conducted with a specialist, where they learned to express their emotions, overcome anxieties, and share dreams through drawings, metaphorical cards, and movements.
The atmosphere during the events was filled with trust and positivity: theatrical performances, adrenaline at the amusement park, group exercises, and humor helped teenagers find their inner balance and feel the care of adults.
At the same time, juvenile inspectors discussed serious topics with the youth, touching on offenses that children their age might engage in, such as bullying, theft, and vandalism. They urged them to immediately report any offers to commit crimes, as these are manipulations that can draw teenagers into illegal activities. The officers also reminded them of traffic rules, behavior when discovering suspicious objects, and actions during an air raid signal.
“The goal of such events is not to rehabilitate but to establish contact and mutual trust, creating conditions for personal transformation and awareness of one’s own responsibilities,” says acting head of the juvenile prevention sector of the Odessa District Police Department No. 1, Yuriy Lukyanchuk. “These teenagers need extra attention, so it is our duty to care for them, ensuring they feel safe and important to society.”
