Renovation of the Stormwater Collector in Arcadia: New Developments

15 August 2025

Starting August 14, 2025, major renovations will commence on the marine section of the stormwater collector in the New Arcadia area.

The initial phase will involve clearing the collector of sand and debris, particularly in the area between the bike-pedestrian path and the artificial beach "Arcadia," located between traverses No. 1 and No. 1-2 of the second phase of anti-landslide structures.

Subsequent work will move closer to the shoreline.

To ensure the safety of visitors, part of the beach area will be fenced off with construction barriers.

All transportation of construction materials and debris will take place at night from 9 PM to 8 AM to ensure a comfortable experience for beachgoers.

According to the contract with the contractor, the planned completion date is December 31, 2026.

However, if there are no frequent extreme weather conditions in winter, the contractor aims to finish the work by the end of May 2026.

The renovation of the stormwater collector in Arcadia is part of the efforts by the Mayor of Odessa to address the city's flooding issues during heavy rains. Existing main collectors are ineffective during storms and require clearing and modernization. Previous years have seen repairs to the most problematic sections of the collector. Now, the most challenging final stage begins - the reconstruction of the marine section involving underwater work.
